February 26, 2010

Here at Pinecone the snow began in the early hours on February 25. It snowed all that day and then through the night. When the storm finally ended, it left us with snow 20 inches deep. On February 26 only emergency vehicles were allowed to travel on the roads.

Perambulations around England 3: at Greenwich

On the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) Line

From my journal (May 2001):
"Had tea from Charing Cross Station. Drank it as we walked down Villiers & to the boat to Greenwich dock at the Embankment. Got the 10:00 boat. Lovely on the river - clouds and sun, cooler than yesterdays mid-seventies. First had pasties at “Gregg’s’….Then to the Royal Observatory. Uphill walk through the Royal Park followed by a steep incline up to the Observatory".

Perambulations around England 2: at Hampton Court Palace

Inside and Outside of The Maze

From my journal (Summer 2000):
“We went through the great MAZE. Really was a confusing place. The hedges were about 8 ft tall & the walkway only wide enough for two people – one going in each direction! There were dead ends & winding turns. We got to the center and back & had fun doing it.”
